About Avnei HaHoshen & Crystals
Gemstones promote healing and restore balance by clearing negative energy through their unique vibrational frequencies, shaped by their mineral composition, structure, and color. These properties align with the body’s needs to enhance well-being.
The use of gemstones/crystals dates back to ancient times and is mentioned in Jewish, Egyptian, and other historical sources. Over the centuries, gemstones have been valued not only as adornments but also for protection and healing.
When discussing Shabbat in the Talmud it highlights the medicinal use of gemstones , such as the Carnelian (Even HaTekuma), which women were permitted to carry on Shabbat to prevent miscarriage. This reflects the recognition of their healing properties.
In Exodus, gemstones are prominently featured in the High Priest’s breastplate, (Hoshen Mishpat) with commentaries elaborating on their significance. As Rabeinu Bechaye explains, “There is no stone among the precious stones which does not bring down power from above” (Exodus 28).

Hi, I'm Gila!
The beauty of gemstones has always attracted me. So too has the idea of unity among the Jewish people, together with a deep desire to help others. I could never have imagined that these seemingly separate threads would eventually come together and shape the work that I do today.
My professional background is in social work, psychotherapy and group work. My path later led me into the study of assessment and healing through gemstones, and what began as an area of study soon became a passion and, ultimately, my life’s work.
As I delved more deeply into the world of gemstones, I discovered their extraordinary connection to Judaism, particularly the Avnei HaHoshen, the twelve precious stones worn by the Kohen Gadol, each representing one of the twelve tribes of Israel. For me, the Hoshen became a powerful symbol of Am Yisrael: twelve different stones, each representing a unique tribe, brought together as one.
Over the years, I have continued to be amazed by the accuracy and depth of gemstone assessments and their ability to reveal so much about a person’s physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. I have also witnessed remarkable changes through the therapeutic use of gemstones.

Today, I am the founder of the Jewish School of Gemstone Healing, where I teach a structured, Torah-based approach to working with Avnei HaHoshen and gemstones. I train students to understand and use gemstones as a serious therapeutic tool, while continuing my own work with clients through Personal Gemstone Insight Sessions.
My work has taken me around the world, lecturing, teaching and working with Jewish communities internationally. I speak about the Avnei HaHoshen, the therapeutic properties of gemstones and the fascinating place these precious stones hold within Judaism, bringing together ancient Jewish sources and their practical relevance to our lives today.
What began as my own journey of discovery has grown into something far greater than I could have imagined. It is a privilege to share this knowledge, to train others to use gemstones professionally, and to help people gain greater understanding, clarity and wellbeing through these extraordinary gifts from Hashem.
